1. Relevant Worship (Psalms 95:1-7)
We believe that God “inhabits the praises of His people” (Psalms 22:3). Therefore, the more fervently we worship the Lord, the greater the potential for God to manifest His Spirit and minister to the congregation.
Worship is God-centered. We do not base our enthusiasm for worship on musical styles or generational orientation. We believe that our first ministry is to the Lord and therefore we will heartily participate in worship regardless of its cross-generational nature. In other words, it’s all about Him and not about us.
2. Missions-focused (Matthew 28:18-20)
At CLCA, we strive to be Spirit-led in supporting effective outreach ministries both here in the United States and abroad. We have arms that reach across the street and around the world for the glory of Jesus.
We believe that it is imperative that the church of the Lord Jesus Christ do everything within our power to help get the message of the gospel out into every possible venue. We believe that the return of the Lord Jesus is imminent, and therefore this task is urgent.
We believe that every follower of Jesus is commissioned to not only give but to go into the world; therefore as a church we tithe what is received by our congregation in tithes into outreach ministries and we sponsor outreach trips of various kinds every year. However, we also realize that believers do not have to go to a foreign land or even another city, but can go across the street to reach an unsaved person for Christ.
3. Community-engaged (Jeremiah 29:7)
Jeremiah 29:7 says, “Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because it if prospers, you too will prosper.” We believe that God has called us to be a blessing to our city and the Gulf Coast community at large. We accomplish this not only through providing a venue for Christian growth and worship as well as education, but also through proactive involvement in meeting the needs of the local community as they arise.
We believe that ministry to the poor and underprivileged is a fundamental principle of Scripture and should be a vital part of the lives of individual believers and our church body. Through our benevolence ministries, we give monetary gifts and we serve to meet practical and spiritual needs.
We seek out ways in which we can serve the needs of the greater community through helping with practical, service-oriented projects such as volunteering for events sponsored by the city or other organizations. Our service presents a practical demonstration of the love of Jesus.
4. Family-centered (Genesis 1:27,28; 2:20-24)
CLCA is committed to strengthening the family both through intentional ministry designed for children, youth, adults, and seniors, and through cross-generational ministry.
We provide a variety of ministries designed to strengthen the home with training for marriage, finances, and effective parenting.
As a staff, we believe that ministry to our families is second only to our ministry to the Lord. We believe in modeling Godly marriages and parenting before the congregation.
5. Multi-cultural (Revelation 5:9,10)
We believe that CLCA should be an accurate reflection of the cultures which are represented on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. In order for this to happen, we strive to provide a welcoming atmosphere for those of varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
We believe that being a multi-cultural church means that opportunities for ministry and leadership are available to those from cultures other than the majority. Although the leadership places a premium on being led by the Spirit in releasing individuals into those positions, no person shall be denied these opportunities based upon their ethnicity.
CLCA is honored to provide a special Hispanic service for the non-English-speaking people in our community.
6. Cross-generational (Titus 2:2-6)
We believe that CLCA is called by God to be a blended congregation, combining the various generations into one worship service. We strive to provide specialized ministry to various age groups, yet we maintain that when we come together for worship, we are one family, nurturing each other, depending upon each other.
We believe we gain great strength from the bonds between generations, and we place a premium on a spirit of acceptance and tolerance between those of various ages. We believe that each generation has a unique impartation that should be valued by the preceding or succeeding generations. We strive for a harmonious multi-generational worship expression characterized by appreciation and celebration of our unique styles.
Titus 2:2-6 admonishes the church that the older should instruct the younger so that the Word of God will not be maligned. We strive to foster relationships between the generations so that life-training can occur from the older to the younger and our witness for the Lord will be strengthened.
7. Strategic in discipleship (Matthew 28:18-20)
At CLCA, we believe that every believer is called and gifted by God for an eternal purpose. We strive to help each person discover and utilize their passion to grow the Kingdom of God.
Our training programs are not simply designed to make believers “smarter” about their faith or “deeper” in wisdom. We are equipping them to be “doers of the word and not hearers only,” (James 1:22) serving the Lord in a practical way that is spiritually fulfilling and eternally effective.
8. Intentional in education (Matthew 22:37)
Our church staff serve as “life coaches” equipping leaders for success through imparting the value of biblical principles for daily living.
We operate Cedar Lake Christian Academy for the purpose of providing an excellent education for students and helping them to discover their divine purpose. We strive to help them realize that the career they are preparing for will be the platform for the ministry to which God has called them.
Spiritual and biblical impartation is interwoven into every aspect of the students’ curriculum along with ministry through chapel and Bible class. These lessons are designed to develop young people into effective ministers who will fill positions in business, education, government, entertainment, media, family and church.
9. Biblical stewardship (Luke 16:10-12)
Recognizing the weight the Bible gives to the subject of stewardship, we strive to teach our congregation how to properly manage a variety of areas of life: our bodies, our time, our talents, our money, our marriages, etc.
Our goal is to help every follower of Jesus at CLCA grow in the area of stewardship. Proper stewardship increases the capacity of believers to be a greater blessing and more effective in ministry.
Three Prophetic Words for Your Prayer Focus
1. The Word of the Lord to us is that Biloxi is going to “melt”, spiritually speaking. People will walk through our doors and “fall on their face” because of the glory of the Lord in this House.
2. That the MS Gulf Coast will be a gathering place of wealth. God is going to send an abundance that will allow us to fully extend His Kingdom in the earth.
3. Pray that the healing stream will be released from CLCA. We believe that God has released it in many ways, and now we are believing God to widen the stream. We are asking God for notable physical miracles and also for the healing of emotions.
